That is kind of eerie, it’s like a ghost town. I love the look of the wall art in the tunnel, I hope the new one retains the charcter. Thanks for sharing this vid.

I know that the wall art is being saved. Also, RTD thoroughly photographed the tunnel. Furthermore, large parts of the tunnel are being saved - the signs, for example.

My mil went to a wedding last night and the bride and groom gave some of there guest a rose each and they formed a tunnel holding the single rose up in the air, it seems like a cute idea, has anyone else done this before? and how much would it cost to buy 200 sinlge roses?Sound Proofing |Soundproofing

Today I was feeling quite nostalgic as I walked through the pedestrian tunnel under Denver Union Station for the last time. I go through this every time I go to or from work on the light rail. It is being permanently closed on Feb 1 as part of the redevelopment of the station. While there are just two Amtrak trains that stop there each day now, one going east and one going west, the signs through the tunnel are a reminder of how the station used to be a major transportation hub. And the good news is that it will be an exciting and thriving place again with the redevelopment that they have plannedreal estate contract |real estate contracts

This is a tragedy. There is no good reason RTD’s Airport train and the Gold line couldn’t use this tunnel and the current platforms. Obviously they are in perfectly good shape. Instead they want to waste money to rip it all out and replace it with an ugly box, that will never fit in with the historic character of the station. The operator was desperate for a cuppa and was awaiting the light. As soon as he saw it he pressed for the bucket to come down and my dad was suddenly left like a dead weight against it’s side as the bucket disappeared into the fog. His colleagues tried desperately to haul him up but is was 17 stones and he was unable to get enough purchase on the side to get up. My dad worked on the building of these towers and I was taken up as a lad to see the view when they were close to completion. They were using an open air “bucket lift” that ran on a track up the side of the tower. It could only be operated from the bottom so you needed someone on hand to see you out at the top to return the bucket. As reported by the local papers in the past couple of weeks about sealing off the tunnel, it housed a lot for the paranormal investigator. It is unfortunate some folks that visited the tunnel did not go there for its vast history or to go and admire the craftsmanship of the tunnel. They went there to party. Drinking, taking drugs, and spray painting the walls and trashing the place by setting fires on the old board walk that used to hold the old rails that went through the tunnel, as well as having campfires just outside of the tunnel and leaving trash after they had their parties. At first I wondered if it was a scam, but decided it seemed genuine and I went ahead and filled out the application, though it was a couple of days after the deadline so I wasn’t sure if I’d missed my chance.
