Museum of Contemporary Art - Denver
Moving into Riverfront Park

The Museum of Contemporary Art – Denver will break ground on its new home in Riverfront Park at 15th and Delgany Streets on May 1, 2006. "The new MCA building will be a stunning example of 21st architecture and is sure to become integral to Denver’s cultural identity," noted Cydney Payton, MCA Director/Curator in an interview.

British architect David Adjaye designed the building, which is expected to add foot traffic and a strong cultural element to the Central Platte Valley. The architecture lends itself to supporting some of the most innovative and challenging art of our time. The building will house five distinct spaces for multi-media works of art, works on paper, photography and new media. The Whole Room, will be a venue for lectures, music, poetry, dance and conferences, while the Idea Box will provide hands-on activities for children and families and encourage interaction with art and artists.

The museum has raised almost $9 million; however, the goal is to reach $18 million which will include raising funds for the new building, operating costs, and an endowment fund to ensure long-term stability for the organization. To make a donation to the Contemporary Campaign, please contact MCA’s Development Director, Scott Anderson at 303.298.7554. Visit http://www.mcartdenver.org for more about the museum.

Lola Relocates - Just Minutes from Riverfront Park

Lola restaurant, a Denver favorite, will soon open their doors at 15th and Boulder Streets- less than ten minutes on foot from Riverfront Park. "We’re moving so that we can be everything we’ve always wanted to be for our guests," notes Jennifer Lydiard, partner and general manager. "The new space is larger, has ample parking, is in close proximity to downtown, and can accommodate large parties. We will also be able to take reservations."

The restaurant features creative Coastal Mexican cuisine by Chef Jamey Fader, an extensive selection of tequilas, and a great atmosphere. The menu changes every twelve weeks, seasonally, to keep guests on their toes. And, in addition to dinner, Lola will offer brunch on Saturday and Sunday, along with live music on Sunday afternoons. The whole front of the building along Boulder Street will be a patio for outdoor dining, and will also include an indoor/outdoor bar.

If you’ve ever been to Lola, then you know to expect excellent food and great service. Lola opens to the public on April 20th and is sure to be a hit. And, it adds to the variety of reasons why Riverfront Park is such a great place to live.
