Denver's Cultural Gem
Having been identified as the city of choice for the future Clyfford Still Museum, Denver will soon find itself with a cultural gem 2,393 works strong. The collection, which is currently the darling of the Abstract Expressionist world, is a veritable treasure trove with more than 90% of the works having never been seen by the public. Some of the works have not been viewed since they were originally stored. A grant of $150,000 was recently awarded to the estate for conservation efforts by the National Endownment for the Arts.
To have the opportunity to house almost the entire works of an artist is rare in any era and in any medium. In this regard, Denver has won an artistic version of the lottery. The museum, which will be dedicated solely to the works of Clyfford Still, is slated for a 2010 completion. Visit the museum website at www.clyffordstill.org for progress updates, ways to support the project, and also to view a fantastic article that ran on March 18, 2007 in the New York Times on the subject. |

And the Winner Is...
"As architects, and as stewards of our clients' vision, our role is to find solutions that maximize each project's potential by looking beyond expectations, beyond property lines, and beyond what has been done in the past," says Joe Poli, Principal and Director of Design for Humprhies Poli Architects.
This thoughtful stewardship resulted in The Brownstones at Riverfront Park winning the 2006-2007 Architect's Choice Award, which was juried by a selection committee comprised of local architects representing both private enterprise and the City and County of Denver, and the lifestyles editor of the Rocky Mountain News. The honor is bestowed upon projects that demonstrate excellence in residential design. |
